Like Valentyn, many of those fighting for ‘s freedom are beginning to grow more tired and unequipped for the battle.
The feeling of exhaustion and low morale is one shared among those in the field and for the ones who planned to fight until the day all of ‘s occupiers were out of ‘s territory, they are starting to support ‘s call to begin negotiations to end the war.
The change in attitude follows as the soldiers have become frustrated with their own government in Kyiv, claiming that the campaign has been a slow and fragmented mobilisation effort.
They said they had to invest their own money and depend on civilian volunteers for equipment, including drones and vehicles, all because they couldn’t rely on the government for vital equipment.

Oleksandr, an infantry soldier in the 35th brigade, explained that although “the situation was bad” when he first joined the army, it has gotten worse.
He added: “But now, for a new person, the situation is so bad that I don’t judge anyone who is deserting.”
is experiencing more and more deserters as people are no longer choosing to fight but instead being forced to. The country’s minimum conscription age was changed to 25 at a time when they were already shorthanded.
President Volodymr Zelenskyy was suggested by the White House to lower the age right down to 18 but refused. However, the soldiers fighting now are feeling the weight of the numbers not being enough but have come to terms with the reality that they will continue to decline.
