A new built at a cost of £311 million in a blistering hot country will link three nearby coastal .
The 43-miles highway, also known as Khasab-Lima-Dibba road project, is being constructed at Oman and will connect the towns of Diba, Lima and Khasab. Oman government is injecting money in the project as it aims to boost the for the Musandam area.
The highway will feature 11 bridges, expandable side shoulders and wider lanes. It is estimated that the project is likely to be ready by approximately the year 2028.
Once completed, the new road is expected to significantly reduce travel times, with the journey from Khasab to Lima taking approximately 22 minutes, and the full trip from Khasab to Dibba estimated at 55 minutes.
The new road in Musandam will connect the governorate’s wilayats and villages, fostering improved regional accessibility.

Once completed, it is expected to open up new areas for urban, economic, and commercial development, while also promoting tourism and ensuring smoother traffic flow between wilayats.
Construction commenced in January following two and a half years of meticulous planning.
Said bin Hamoud al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology told Oman Arabic: “The road is expected to become a major tourist attraction as some sections overlook the Sea of Oman and others overlook the Arabian Gulf.

“In addition to the presence of deep valleys with wonderful views along the road. We addressed officials at the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority to set up towers as some parts of the road are not yet covered by the network.
“We also plan to connect other services along the road such as the water network that will serve the residential areas and large population centres of the Khasab and Dibba, and the Niyabat of Lima.
“ Officials at the Authority for Public Services Regulation will be contacted for this purpose to implement these projects at a faster pace possible. Besides, we have a plan to establish a protection dam in Lima in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.”
