A new bridge in China is set to be the tallest in the world once completed in 2025.

China is no stranger when it comes to building some of the most impressive in the world with this towering new bridge being no exception.

The Huajiang Canyon Bridge is located in the Guizhou province in one of the world’s most breathtaking canyons.

The bridge stands at a whopping 625 meters (2,051 ft) tall from the deck to the Beipan River with an awe-inspiring 2,890 metres span.

The bridge, which will be completed in 2025, is an example of major advances in suspension bridge technology.

The bridge crosses the Beipan River as it passes through the deep Huajiang Canyon, and once completed, it will be the world’s highest bridge.

The construction of this colossal bridge aims to revitalise a very rural region.

It’s also hoped the Huajiang Canyon Bridge will also boost tourism in the area thanks to the projected creation of a centre for extreme sports at the bottom of the canyon.

It will also reduce canyon crossing time to just over one minute as opposed to the 70 minutes it currently takes.

The bridge will carry the highway connecting Anlong Special District and Liuzhi Special District.

According to the channel, , the bridge will be completed in June 2025 with a cost of £223.8 million ($280 million).

The channel said: “To put the bridge’s height into perspective, you can fit the entire One World Trade Centre below this bridge, and you’d still have more than 80 metres left to spare.

“Aside from serving as a new major crossing across a massive canyon, the bridge will also become a tourist destination of itself.

“This will include private accommodations, a glass walkway, even the highest bungee jump in the world.

“There’s also a visitors centre where tourists can learn about the bridge’s construction and the history of the surrounding region.”

Construction of the Huajiang Canyon Bridge began in 2021, and the first tower of the suspended part reached an impressive 199 metres (653 ft) in height in April 2023.

Currently, the Duge Bridge, also known as the Beipanjiang Bridge, is the highest bridge in the world. It is also found in China and sits at 565 meters (1,854 ft) above the Nizhu River gorge.
