One review of the Amtrak Texas Eagle wrote on TripAdvisor and said: “Train ride was better than expected. We will go again sometime in the future.

“The landscapes and old depots were nice to view. We also met some people that were nice.”

Another added: “A lot of fun. The trip was from Dallas to St Louis. The train was full, and things stayed fun.”

Some were less-than impressed, however, with one adding: “Delayed by 90 minutes and the journey took way longer than listed, lost a day of the holiday just for travel.

“Would’ve booked the bus instead if we knew how slow and inconvenient it would be… ruined the scenic views.”
