‘I visited every single country in Europe – and this one was the worst’

has long been hailed as the travel gem when it comes to all of the continents.

Around 707 million international tourists visited the continent in 2023 – a huge jump by nearly 100 million from 2022.

Amongst the most visited countries in Europe, , and sit at the highest thanks to their rich history, awe-inspiring architecture, diverse landscapes, delicious food and wine and generally pleasant weather.

However, not all spots in would be defined as gems, with one discussing the spot he wouldn’t recommend which is classed as by many, but it does have European roots, therefore it counts.

user spoke about his least favourite European spot on his channel Ollie Potts Travel Documentaries.

According to the user, his least favourite country in Europe is .

The user said: “I didn’t like my time there at all.

“The capital Yerevan is very, very dull. The food wasn’t great and we didn’t feel safe generally.”

Armenia is found in Transcaucasia and is south of the Caucasus mountains in southwestern Asia.

The country shares a border with Turkey to its west, Azerbaijan to the east, Georgia to its north and Iran to the south.

“What kind of sums up Armenia very well is the mountain which overlooks the city. It’s their national treasure, it’s worshipped and it’s also allegedly the place where Noah’s Ark landed from the bible,” he added.

The user went on to explain that the place in the bible was in fact in Turkey and not in Armenia and was given to the Armenians as a gift during Soviet times.

He said: “For me that really summarises my experience in Armenia. We did have a great time driving around the countryside visiting the ruins.

“If you want to visit yourself, I really wouldn’t recommend it and it was my least favourite country on the continent.”

However, not everyone agreed with the comments regarding Armenia.

One user wrote: “Did we visit the same Armenia? I loved it.”

Another added: “The capital is so beautiful and the food excellent.”

Armenia is one of the most historic countries in the world and has a population of just under three million people.

The region has been deemed unsafe due to ongoing tension and potential for conflict along Armenia’s border with Azerbaijan, particularly in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

This is known to cause sporadic military clashes, with travel near the border being deemed risky.

Armenia’s capital city, Yerevan, is known to have occasional protests, which sometimes turn violent with petty crime such as pickpocketing also occurring.
