Actor Christian Oliver’s death sent shockwaves across the globe when it was revealed in the first week of 2024 that he had lost his life in a Caribbean plane crash.
Even more heartbreakingly, his two young daughters, aged 10 and 12, had been on board at the time. Yet there was one major puzzle left for authorities to solve – aside from the cause of the crash, which has never been discovered.
Despite his vast wealth and an estate worth $1 million (£806,000), it was discovered that the German-born star had left no will. It meant an added layer of confusion about how to distribute his fortune.
Christian, who starred alongside the likes of and Cate Blanchett during his career, appeared not to have left any instructions at all about how to act if the unexpected should occur. Ultimately, the decision was reportedly made to hand his wealth to his surviving relatives.
The actor was killed a year ago today while travelling between the Caribbean islands of Bequia and St Lucia, which are just 65 miles apart. It is unclear what caused the horror crash during such a short distance flight.

Robert Sachs, both the pilot and the owner of the plane, also died in the tragic crash, leaving no-one to go to for answers.
Reports by US gossip site Page Six indicate that a man named Konstantin Richter has been nominated as the administrator of his estate, according to the wishes of his parents Ursula and Gerhard Klepser.
The 51-year-old was also survived by a sister, Alexandra, and it is believed that the immediate family members are to inherit his wealth by default.
Christian, whose real surname is also Klepser, had been famed for his 1990s appearance in Saved by the Bell: The New Class, in which he played the Swiss transfer student Brian Keller.

The bilingual star was also an actor in German crime drama Alarm für Cobra 11, which ran in the 2000s.
He was additionally known for his role in multiple World War II dramas, including 2006’s The Good German, alongside and a subsequent 2009 appearance in the -led Valkyrie.
Tragically, Christian had posted about his overseas adventures on just a few days before his death, when he shared New Year’s Day wishes from an unnamed location he described as “paradise”.
“Greetings from somewhere in paradise! To community and love… 2024 here we come!” he’d written.
