BBC Breakfast viewers were left gobsmacked after an extraordinary interview with the first evictee from The Traitors.
The beloved murder mystery series made a return on New Year’s Day for its third season, introducing a new batch of participants. The ever-charismatic Claudia Winkleman resumed her role as the show’s host, designating Linda, Minah, and Armani as the cunning Traitors, while the remaining 19 players were dubbed the Faithful.
In a tense Wednesday night episode (January 1), the Traitors chose their first victim to be eliminated from the game. Communication scientist Yin was the unfortunate contestant to be the first ‘murdered’ and ousted from the contest.
Following her departure, Yin joined Breakfast for a post-exit interview. Yin spoke to presenters and , during which she disclosed her secret skill.

Yin’s interview caused fans to complain
Charlie pointed out that Yin had a talent for singing, leading to an impromptu performance live on the morning show.
Viewers watched in amazement as The Traitors’ first casualty delivered a parody version of R.Kelly’s hit I Believe I Can Fly: “I believe I can lie, I believe I can falsify, plan a murder every night and day, to make the Faithfuls all go away.”
Yin further dazzled the hosts with another musical performance centred on love, but viewers tuning in from home were less enthralled as they flocked to social media to voice their opinions.
One viewer tweeted: “#BBCBreakfast That woman from #traitors was pure cringe.”
BBC slapped with lots of complaints following interview
Another added: “For goodness sake. That bloody woman from the Traitors is doing my head in. Not interested in her chirruping away with the birds nest on her head.”
Another puzzled fan posted: “#bbcbreakfast what have I just watched #traitors.”
Post-elimination, Yin sounded the alarm for the Traitors, branding them overly “chaotic” and questioning their collective capability to collaborate effectively.
She suggested that these flaws could be the downfall of the team unless a profound betrayal serves to realign their focus and evade disaster.
During the interview, she elaborated: “They are too chaotic as a three, you can tell already they are not going to work together.
“They’ve got the wrong combination of people. As individuals they are all phenomenal but as a trio they don’t congeal.
Yin burst into song live on-air
“Armani and Minah seem close, but Linda is not very strong and she’s hiding a bit. Jake cottoned onto her, so she could be a bit more proactive about it because he was right about her.
“In their commentary about each other they are already criticising each other which is a bad sign, a first impression gone sour.”
She added: “There should be more respect and admiration, they should be excited to work together but Minah thinks Armani is on another team. She’s already clocked that they do not have a team, and Linda says Armani is doing too much. I can’t see them lasting for very long, that’s the honest truth.”
Reflecting on her untimely departure from the show, Yin disclosed her feelings of letdown, saying: “I didn’t get a breakfast, or a roundtable or a proper mission with everyone involved. These are all critical ingredients in this whole experience that I missed out on so it feels disappointing.”
Breakfast airs Monday to Saturday on BBC1.
