presenter has admitted he was a little but “overambitious” with his plans to renovate his pub as he admitted he is “suffering”.
The alum took to to post a video for the new year. Although it was filmed on December 20 he only uploaded it after the festivities and included a new year’s greeting for his 31.3 thousand followeres.
“Another Christmas when the pub should be opened,” he reflected as he walked through the clearly unfinished premises. “You could say I was a little bit over ambitious with my timescales and budgets. I feel like I’m suffering.
“I’m a victim of my own, whatevers,” he laughed. “But the place is still work in progress. It would be easy to say there’s a long way to go,” he said with his hand over his mouth conspiratorially.
“But hopefully in the new year, things will accelerate, and we’ve got lots of work going on outside, and hopefully the inside will start coming together. And the restaurant,” he said.

Martin Roberts has opened up on the struggle of renovating his pub
“I mean, little things that are really keeping me going, things like this,” he said as he walked towards a wall to show off what looked like a shelf. “This old beam i found in an architectural salvage place. I don’t know what it was.
“And i got the second hand fire, and just sort of made this fireplace, which I think is going to be really nice.
“You can imagine sofas in front of here and people sipping on a latte and sitting with their kids and their dogs.
“And it’s these kind of things which keep me going…two and a half years on,” he said passionately.

Martin Robert’s admitted he had underestimated how much time it would take to finish his pub
In September last year on Martin’s Oops I Bought A Pub’ broadcast on his YouTube channel Martin Roberts’ Property Titbits, he admitted he neglected to tell his family he had purchased the watering hole.
“My family are used to my madcap ideas and crazy initiatives but I have to confess, I thought this one might be stretching their imagination, so I might have forgotten to tell them I was buying it.
“Some might argue that I kind of kept it a little bit quiet from the family… yeah, sticky one that! Anyway, too late now, I own it!”
The pub, called The Hendrewen is in Blaencwm and dates back to the 1900s. Prior to Martin’s purchase it fell on hard times and the -19 pandemic killed it off, with the place left just as it was when they called last orders for the last time.
