A top motoring has revealed how and owners can fix a this January.

Scotty Kilmer, one of the leading car experts, stressed that adjusting just one in just seconds.

The simple hack can be done from the comfort of their own driveway and may save road users a lot of money in garage fees.

Scotty admitted cars that are idling poorly and appear to be broken may not actually be as damaged as first thought.

The expert urged motorists to check a vehicle with a scan tool immediately but if nothing appears the issue could be as simple as a loose battery connector.

A simple tweak of the car battery connector could make all the difference and get cars back on the road in perfect condition.

Scotty said: “Today I’m going to show you how you might be able to fix a car that runs poorly by just tightening something up.

“This [car] idles poorly and sometimes cuts out while you’re driving. But there’s no check engine light on and the scan tool shows no codes.

“Now I went to jumpstart the car but when I grab the negative terminal look, it wiggles all over the place.

DON’T MISS [COMMENT]

“A loose battery connection can actually cause all of these problems when you don’t have a code trip.

“Here’s the fix, tighten it up, it doesn’t wiggle now. Now it starts up and idles perfectly. What a cheap fix.”

Not connecting a battery properly could prevent the battery from delivering enough power to start a vehicle.

This could also lead to electrical glitches and even damage to the battery itself as a result of excessive sparking.

Motorists were quick to praise Scotty’s analysis with some even admitting they had been caught out by the problem themselves.

One road user commented on YouTube: “I had this problem. Car would go into “start” position but die when I tried cranking the engine. Turns out it was a loose positive wire.”

@nolangietzen4668 added: “My brother’s Durango was idling rough [and] would almost stall because of corrosion in the negative terminal runs great now after cleaning.”

@CZ-kz7ug commented: “Those connectors stretch and never tighten down after awhile. Best is to replace them with connectors that have a lot of adjustability.

“Pos and neg terminals are not always the same size. Rough surface allows connectors to stick better on the taper.”
