Luke Littler has earned more than £1million in his first year as a darts pro
Luke Littler has been told he could win £1m at the in the near future. The teenager sensation banked £200,000 for reaching the 2024 final, where he lost to who took home the top prize of £500,000. That was out of a total prize fund of £2.5million.
is looking to go one better this year, although he must first get past Stephen Bunting in the semi-finals and or Chris Dobey in the final. The prize money for the 2025 tournament remains unchanged but given darts’ burgeoning popularity, partly thanks to Littler’s impact, that is expected to grow in the coming years.
Darts legend Dennis Priestley, who earned just £16,000 for winning the first PDC World Championship in 1994, can see a time when the world champion will pick up £1million. He even suspects it will happen before the end of the decade.
“Before the decade is out, the winner will get £1million, for sure,” Priestley told the “It won’t be a big jump [from £500k to £1million] though.
“Adding £100k to the prize pot each year could be a good way to proceed. We won’t see the prize money reach as high as £5million, at least not in mine or Barry Hearn’s lifetime.”
PDC president Hearn has regularly spoken of his desire to increase prize money beyond levels of other sports, like golf. Whether it reaches the £1m mark will hinge on negotiations with Sky Sports, who broadcast most of the PDC majors, including the World Championship, World Matchplay and Premier League, and other potential bidders.

Dennis Priestley expects darts prize money to soar over the next few years
Sky has been the PDC’s main broadcast partner since the darts company’s birth in the 90s but their current deal expires this year. With prize money only set to go in one direction, Priestley believes Littler could conceivably earn £1m a year for the remainder of his career, provided he stays motivated.
“I think Luke Littler could earn at least £1million per year throughout the rest of his career as long as he keeps his standards high and his love for the sport doesn’t decrease,” said two-time world champion.
“Littler has to keep himself motivated, he has to think of the accolades and records that are there for him instead of the money.”
Littler earned more than £1m in 2024 alone after winning the Premier League, World Series Finals and Grand Slam of Darts, plus European tour and Players Championship events.
