ITV Vera shares first look at young detective as Brenda Blethyn bids farewell to character

The final episode of ITV’s popular drama Vera, which aired on Thursday, January 2, offered fans a unique insight into the early life of the titular detective, revealing the experiences that shaped her.

Blethyn, departing from her long-standing role as DCI Vera Stanhope after a 14-year tenure, has shared her reluctance to commit to any roles that would mean extensive time away from home, firmly stating: “I don’t want to be doing jobs which means going away for long periods of time.”
