Rob Wilfort, of fame, has let slip further details about the legendary fishing trip that’s become an iconic mystery within the show’s 17-year span.
fans were thrilled with a special gift just one week after the sitcom concluded: a documentary titled Gavin and Stacey: A Fond Farewell, which contained a thrilling surprise previously unseen footage showcasing Uncle Bryn and Jason West on their fabled fishing trip.
Before the broadcast of the anticipated Gavin and Stacey: The Finale Christmas special, the tantalised fans with the possibility that the secret of the fishing trip might finally be disclosed. In a twist of fate, as the truth almost spilled out, viewers were once again left in suspense due to a well-timed interruption.
The beloved Uncle Bryn himself, played by Rob Brydon, has always maintained: “I’d like to say now and forever, the joke has always been you don’t find out what happens on the fishing trip. I’m sorry everybody, but that has always been the joke and it always will be because it’s funny. It’s funnier that way. The scene cuts to Jason holding a fish, while Bryn’s voice fills the air with enthusiasm, declaring: “No one will go hungry in this camp tonight.”

He elaborated that there was supposed to be a scene where his character discovers Bryn poring over the video. However, the footage never made it to the broadcast: “There was a scene where I find Bryn watching video footage of the trip. But you still don’t see what happened! The scene got cut because the episode was running too long. It’s great that some of it has seen the light of day. Hope you enjoyed!”
