According to a study by Quotezone.co.uk, drivers who looked for car insurance quotes from midnight to 6am received prices that were up to 22% more than those looking during the day.
The company highlighted this could be because drivers who pay for their insurance in the middle of the night are more likely to have accidents on the road or get behind the wheel when it is still dark.

Insurance companies can consider those who only renew their insurance a matter of days, or even hours, before the current policy expires as being less considerate on the roads, and therefore charge up to 45 more for cover.
Motorists are generally advised to begin looking for insurance prices a month before their current policy expires with a view of buying it 21 days in advance.
Finally, Greg also suggested that drivers carefully consider where they keep their vehicle overnight, with those who are able to leave it on a driveway or inside a garage able to save a significant amount of money.
He advised: “Parking location is also a crucial factor when determining insurance premiums. Generally, the closer you park to your home, the better.
“Cars that are parked on the road and away from home are more likely to be damaged or become targets for thieves.”
