As winter draws on and the cold days and darkness continue, many Brits are probably craving some vitamin D.

For those with , there are plenty of warm countries this time of year a short flight away and other destinations further afield that can give you your Vitamin D fix.

Malta

Just three hours from the UK there’s the gorgeous island of Malta.

Nestled between Sicily and the North African coast, is a popular destination for British tourists all year round but it’s perfect for winter sunshine.

This small island nation with a population of just over 500,000 people is packed full of beautiful beaches and historic sites – coupled with a relaxed atmosphere, it’s no surprise Malta is such a popular short-haul winter destination.

Canary Islands

Also close to the UK, and equally popular with British tourists are the Canary Islands. Each of the seven islands has their own distinct charm and things to do – from volcanic scenery and golden sand dunes to tropical rainforests there’s something for every keen traveller.

Mexico

Moving further afield, Mexico is a great place for some winter sun.

This up and coming sunny destination is a wealth of delicious food, cocktails and culture. The weather is usually around 28 degrees Celsius in the coastal areas like Cancun, whereas Mexico City is usually cooler in the later months hovering around 21 degrees celsius.

New Zealand

Even further away now, this gorgeous island nation enjoys the heat of its summer during England’s winter, with the best weather hitting in January and February.

Made up of two islands, the North and South, New Zealand boasts some of the most beautiful beaches and forests in the world.  Enjoy the famous New Zealand relaxed hospitality and take your time to explore this pacific paradise.

As it’s a minimum of 22 hours by plane away, you may as well take the time to enjoy all it has to offer.
