Ruth captured the image: “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang 1968… remember watching this with mum when I was eight!”

A few days ago, Ruth also revealed that her mum, who badly bruised her face in the fall, would be snacking on a huge slice of Christmas cake to boost her morale, along with some festive shortbread.

Thanking the snack company, Ruth captioned her Story: “Boxing Day hospital visiting. She loved the Christmas cake… thank you @nanalilyspuddings.”

In a snap, she showed how Joan was keeping herself occupied while her injury healed, quipping: “Nothing keeps her from her crosswords.” After returning from the hospital, she indulged in board games and snacked on what was left in her kitchen.

“The best bit of Boxing Day… the leftover soup!” she said. Ruth is currently going through a period of intense change, separating from host Eamonn after an almost 30-year relationship and fearing that son Jack will also be distancing himself from the family home soon too.

“Although Jack’s not yet been at his girlfriend’s for Christmas, I’m sure the time will come,” she told Woman and Home.

“Then I’ll have to take a big gulp and go, ‘That’s lovely, darling. Of course, it’s absolutely no problem’ – but, of course, I’ll be dying inside.”

Ruth is currently living in the £3.5 million Surrey mansion she once shared with Eamonn, while he has moved on with new girlfriend Katie.
