Heavy rain, high winds and blizzards are to hit parts of Britain this with events cancelled across the country.

Almost every part of the UK is covered by at least one of multiple weather until New Year’s Day.

On New Year’s Eve, an amber rain warning is in force in the Highlands and Moray until 5pm and a yellow warning for snow and rain covers most of Scotland until midnight.

Forecasters are warning of “likely” delays to all types of transport on New Year’s Eve as winds could reach speeds of up to 70mph in parts of England and Northern Ireland. Already, some .

Areas in central and southern Scotland as well as northern England are covered by a yellow warning for wind from 7am until 11pm, with a separate wind warning covering Northern Ireland from 6am until 2pm. A 24-hour yellow warning for rain will come into force across much of Wales and north-west England from 6pm on Tuesday. A yellow warning for snow is in place until midnight in Orkney and Shetland.

Danger to life, floods and travel chaos expected in Wales

Heavy rain is likely to cause disruption across Wales, with a yellow warning applying from 3pm today and lasting until 11am on New Year’s Day.

Flooded roads, difficult driving conditions, possible power cuts, damage from flooding and a danger to life from fast-flowing floodwater are among the details of the warning.

It applies to the following regions and local authority areas: Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Neath Port Talbot, Newport, Powys, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Swansea, Torfaen and Wrexham.

Wind warning in force across Northern Ireland

A yellow weather warning for wind aplies from 6am today until 2pm this afternoon. Transport delays are “likely” while short term loss of power are possible.

The warning covers County Antrim County Armagh, County Down, County Fermanagh, County Londonderry and County Tyrone.

A yellow warning for wind applies across southern Scotland and northern England, including Cumbria, Northumberland and County Durham. It came into force at 7am today and will apply until 11pm. Delays to road, rail, air and ferry services are “likely”, according to the .

There is another yellow warning, this time for rain, which comes into force from 3pm today and lasts until 11am tomorrow.

Heavy rain is likely to lead to disruption across Wales and parts of northern England, with a chance of flooding.

Brits have been warned to expect possible power cuts and some communities possibly being cut off because of flooding. Floodwater poses a danger to life too. The warning applies to Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Lancashire.

What weather warnings have been issued for Scotland?

A yellow warning for snow across the Shetland Islands and Orkney Islands came into force at 5am today and lasts until midnight.

Another yellow warning, for snow and rain, applies to Moray and the Highlands of Scotland.

There is also an amber warning for rain which came into force at midnight and applies until 5pm today. It covers Moray and the Highlands too.
