Matheus Cunha has been hit with a two-game ban for an incident following his team’s game with Ipswich earlier this month. After the visitors had won 2-1 at Molineux, tempers flared at the final whistle with the Brazilian getting embroiled in an altercation with players and coaches of the away side.

He was charged with misconduct by the FA after appearing to elbow an Ipswich member of staff before snatching his glasses off his face.

The 25-year-old has now been fined £80,000, will miss Wolves’ game with Nottingham Forest and the FA Cup third-round trip to Bristol City.

“Matheus Cunha has been suspended for two games and fined £80,000 following the fixture between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town on Saturday, December 14, 2024.The forward was charged with misconduct and it was alleged that he acted in an improper manner after the final whistle.

“He admitted the charge and the sanctions were subsequently imposed by an independent Regulatory Commission. Full written reasons for this case will be published in due course.”

Wolves themselves released a statement following the announcement, but simply confirmed the decision of the FA. And they clarified to fans: “The suspension means the Brazilian will be absent from Vitor Pereira’s squad for the match against Nottingham Forest and the FA Cup third round tie away to Bristol City.”
