Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie finalise divorce after eight years as star ‘exhausted’

is said to be “exhausted” after her protracted legal wrangle with has finally drawn to a close, a staggering eight years on.

Jolie’s legal team confirmed that the former power couple put pen to paper on their divorce documents last Monday, December 30.

A source disclosed to People magazine: “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family.

“This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

The insider added: “She doesn’t speak ill of [Pitt] publicly or privately. She’s been trying hard to be light after a dark time.”

This public inquiry follows a significant event on September 19, 2016, when Angelina Jolie filed legal documents to dissolve their marriage. This decision came in the wake of a troubling incident that allegedly occurred on a private jet.

In the aftermath of the incident, authorities conducted investigations to determine the validity of Jolie’s accusations. However, Brad Pitt was ultimately not charged with any offence, and Jolie decided against pursuing the matter further through legal channels.

As the months progressed and the complexities of their separation became apparent, the estranged couple announced in January 2017 that they had reached a mutual agreement to handle their split privately.

Before finalising their privacy agreement, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt found themselves amid contentious divorce negotiations characterised by intense disputes over child custody and serious accusations.

Over the following years, these former partners continued to clash over the guardianship of their six children and the intricate legal matters surrounding their jointly owned property, the stunning $164 million French chateau and vineyard known as Chateau Miraval.

In February 2022, Pitt sued Jolie, challenging her decision to sell her share of Chateau Miraval without his consent. This move sparked a heated exchange, and Jolie responded by filing a countersuit.

In her claims, she accused Pitt of “waging a vindictive war against” her, underscoring the tumultuous nature of their post-divorce relationship and ongoing disputes.

The ongoing legal battle between the estranged couple continues to escalate as they remain embroiled in disputes over the ownership of the Miraval winery. This situation shows no signs of resolution well into 2024.

In a significant development for Jolie, November brought a notable victory when a judge ruled that Pitt must furnish a trove of documents, including emails and text messages.

Simultaneously, Pitt scored a strategic advantage in the ongoing winery dispute. Reports indicate that he succeeded in moving the case closer to trial, leveraging evidence that suggests the existence of a written agreement regarding the sale of shares in the winery, which the source close to Pitt claims “demonstrates the legitimacy of his claims.”

This potential evidence could play a crucial role in establishing the terms agreed upon by the former couple, potentially influencing the outcome of their contentious legal proceedings surrounding the Miraval estate.
