flight attendant Jeenie.weenie has discussed the importance of one simple question when it comes to plus-size travellers.

Over the years, many airlines have changed both their attitude and policies when it comes to plus-size passengers and have modified a number of policies to handle such matters.

Plus-sized passengers have to deal with a number of issues when flying including not being able to keep their armrests lowered while seated, taking up space in adjacent seats and not being able to buckle their seatbelts.

According to Jeenie.weenie, this can all be easily remedied by one question every plus-sized passenger should ask when boarding.

The social media user and flight attendant says these passengers should ask for a seatbelt extender as they board the plane.

In the video she said: “Many of you get anxiety asking for a seatbelt extender in front of all the other passengers so here’s tip for you.

“When you’re boarding a plane, ask the crew member at this time for that seatbelt extender.”

This simple shift in timing can save you a lot of stress, adds Jeannie.

Most airlines keep seatbelt extenders at the boarding area, so the flight crew can immediately hand one to you.

If they don’t have one on hand, then all that’s required is giving your seat number to the flight attendant.

By doing this, once the boarding process is complete, then the flight attendants can bring the extender to you at your seat.

Many plus-sized passengers have a fear of being singled out but Jeenie’s clever and simple solution allows for the process to be far easier.

This is because airlines and their staff are accustomed to such requests and are therefore usually efficient when it comes to providing the necessary equipment.

Asking for such an item is a part of the airline’s staff job which according to Jeannie, will help all passengers regardless of a person’s size.

According to Flightright UK, there are no universal weight limits when it comes to travellers on aircrafts.

The site said: “The focus is on safety and comfort in terms of the fit in the seat and the length of the seat belts.

“Whether overweight passengers need to book two seats depends on the airline and individual factors such as seat dimensions and height.”
