Shocking footage has captured the moment a plane caught fire while trying to land in Canada.

The incident occurred on Air Canada Flight 2259, operated by PAL Airlines, while it was attempting to land at Halifax Airport in the east of the country.

At around 9:30pm local time on Saturday night, the plane arriving from St. John’s experienced a problem while landing, causing it to skid down the runway and

Horrified passenger Nikki Valentine said one of the plane’s tires did not deploy properly upon landing, causing it to skid down the runway for a “decent” distance as the pilots

She told : “The plane started to sit at about a 20-degree angle to the left and, as that happened, we heard a pretty loud what almost sounded like a crash sound as the wing of the plane started to skid along the pavement, along with what I presume was the engine.

“The plane shook quite a bit and we started seeing fire on the left side of the plane and smoke started coming in the windows. One side of the entire plane was on fire, so everyone was pretty much in a hurry to get off, but an organised hurry.”

Luckily, everyone was evacuated safely and checked out by paramedics. There have been no reports of casualties as yet.

Valentine said , putting the capacity at around 80 people, and it only took a couple of minutes to get everyone evacuated.

She said most people were shaken up by the experience, but none seemed to be suffering from major injures.

Halifax Airport issued a statement confirming the incident but did not reveal how many passengers were on the plane at the time.

This shocking incident come just hours after killed nearly 200 people after the jet crashed and burst into flames at Muan International Airport.

Jeju Air flight 7C2216, carrying 181 people from Bangkok was attempting to land shortly after midnight GMT when it veered off the runway and collided with a wall, bursting into flames.

According to the News1 agency, a passenger sent , mentioning that a bird was stuck in the plane’s wing. Their final message read, “Should I say my last words?”
