Former star Daisy Campbell has said she is “taking my responsibility” as the face of her new drama “incredibly seriously” as she revealed she will be joined by several other ex-soap stars in the production.
Immediately after departing her role as Amelia Spencer in the soap. Now she has taken to the production company’s to give further details of the role in a video.
The harrowing plot sees her playing a former soap star called Lacey who became famous after joining a popular show as a child. However that is where the similarities end.
“I will be playing the role of Lacey Dean, a former child star made famous by popular soap opera. Sound familiar, but this is where the similarities between myself and Lacey end,” she assured vierwers of the clip osted to Rocking Horse Media’s page.
Adopting a more sombre tone she explained: “Lacey had to endure some things growing up that no one should ever have to…We’ll bravely explore what happens when an innocent young girl so full of promise and potential is not just taken advantage of on the set of a show, but as it so often is the case by someone she trusts.”

Giving further insight into the role Daisy explained Lacey has kept her abuse to herself for years but is faced with a dilemma when she asked back to the show to record a special tribute for the Lifetime Achievement Award celebrating the very co star that abused her for so many years.
Admitting she is taking the role very seriously, Amelia and the producer have met with abuse survivors to ensure they do the story justice.
“I am taking my responsibility as the face of this new drama incredibly seriously…Myself and the team at Rocking Horse Media have already met with some brave survivors of historical abuse.
“I haven’t experienced anything like what Lacey has in my own life but I have been so inspired by our survivors and their stories and I will be meeting more survivors with lived experiences soon,” she wrote in a caption alongside the clip.

Daisy also revealed she won’t be the only famous face in the cast as she will be joined by several other former soap stars.
“With the main cast being made up entirely of former real soap stars like myself, I cannot wait to bring Lacey’s fictional but true to life journey to the screen,” she said although she didn’t let any names slip.

The Shropshire-based production company have attracted big names for their projects in the past but it is the first time someone of Daisy’s star power has taken a lead role for them.
