Leftover turkey, meats, vegetables and puddings can leave an unpleasant odour in your fridge
After days of preparing meals and , many Britons will have a fridge filled with leftovers.
Pigs in blankets, stuffing, slices of beef and gravy are likely some of the leftovers Britons will be enjoying over the next few days.
While tucking into more festive food is a treat, leftovers can leave an unpleasant smell in your fridge – especially if you’ve got lots of leftover meat and cauliflower cheese.
Luckily, there are five simple ways Britons can say goodbye to a stinky fridge without resorting to air fresheners or a deep fridge .

He said: “There’s nothing worse than a smelly fridge, but with these simple tips, your fridge will be smelling fresh in no time.”
1. Clean sock filled with baking soda
An item most people have in their homes, can be used to clean ovens, tile grout and laundry stains as well as deodorise your fridge.
Mr Warren said: “Who knew your old sock could double as a deodoriser? Fill a clean sock with baking soda, which can be bought from most supermarkets for less than a pound (as little as 65p!), tie it up, and put it into your fridge.

“It may seem a bizarre thing to do, but it’ll absorb all those bad odours to leave your fridge smelling fresh.”
2. Wine corks
If you’ve got wine corks left over after Christmas, these can be used to refresh your smelly fridge.
Simply place a few in a bowl in the fridge. Their natural cork material is great at soaking up odours.
3. Uncooked popcorn kernels
Mr Warren explained: “Place a bowl of uncooked popcorn kernels in your fridge. These little golden gems, which can be bought for around £1.50, absorb moisture and unpleasant odours, turning your fridge from stinky to fresh in no time.”
4. Used coffee grounds
Leftover coffee grounds from your morning latte is a great way to remove unpleasant smells from your fridge.
Place the grounds in an open container in the fridge to absorb the odours.
5. Cotton ball soaked in vanilla extract
“For the cost of around £3, simply soak a cotton ball in vanilla extract and place it on a shelf inside the fridge,” said Mr Warren.
“It not only masks those unpleasant aromas but also leaves you with a sweet aroma every time you open and close the door.”
