The soap’s new executive producer Kate Brooks disclosed to Plymouth Live that a significant knife crime story is imminent: “Just when you thought it was safe to relax, we start the year with a big knife crime story.”
Kate Brooks emphasized the gravity of addressing such a crucial topic, stating: “The statistics are so alarming. I think knife crime has gone up by 80% in the past 10 years. We’ve worked really closely with the Ben Kinsella Foundation to ensure that we are telling the story right, and to ensure the message is don’t carry a knife after fear because that escalates everything.”, reports Plymouth Live.

is set to deliver a shocking storyline that will leave fans on the edge of their seats. Kate, the show’s producer, revealed: “It’s going to be very hard-hitting. We have Mason [Radcliffe] at the centre of it. We have Dylan [Wilson] involved, it has massive ramifications for Abi [Webster] and for Tim [Metcalfe] and Sally [Metcalfe] going forward.”
Kate further teased the upcoming drama in Weatherfield, saying: “And we just felt like it’s a subject that we couldn’t ignore. It has quite big consequences for people. It’s not a subject matter that has been tackled lightly. It’s an important one to talk about, it’s an important one to let young people know carrying that a bladed article is not the way.”

Mason gets stabbed
While Kate kept mum about whether the stabbing victim would succumb to their injuries, she did caution: “It has got a lot of impact on people. And it’s not just Mason and Dylan and Betsy who are the heart of it. There are other characters involved. It’s a real community story, but a real shocking story.”
In a tragic turn of events, soap spoilers for the episodes starting Monday 6 January have confirmed that Mason Radcliffe will be the one who gets stabbed. The storyline escalates when Mason informs the police about his criminal brothers Matty and Logan, leading them to seek vengeance and pursue him with deadly intent.
In a shocking twist, Mason is stabbed and found by Abi Franklin who tries to stem the bleeding while waiting for paramedics. In the ambulance, Betsy clasps Abi’s hand as they both try to comfort Mason, promising him that he will pull through. But the question remains – will the young lad make it?
