A Place In The Sun star details lifestyle changes following shock health news

star Craig Rowe has vowed to carry good lifestyle habits into 2025 having overhauled his diet and fitness routine after being diagnosed as .

Speaking exclusively to about his determination he admitted it isn’t always easy. “I’ll do well, then what happens is, and I guess I speak for many people with this, I’ll kind of revert back to my old ways.

“And then, of course, I’ll undo all the success that I’ve got. So my new resolution, having learned so much this year about exercise, I’ve been doing lots of different types of exercise, and I’ve been really learning more about food and nutrition and mindset.

“So I think my my resolution is [to] take all that information and keep going. Because if you don’t keep going, that’s when you just revert back. And my blood sugar starts getting high, weight starts coming back.

“So my New Year’s resolution is to keep what I’m doing, but actually be consistent, which I think is a thing that so many of us struggle with,” he acknowledged.

Craig’s resolve can be hindered by his job which constantly sees him jetting off to sunny climes to film the popualr show.

“It’s really hard,” he admits. “Being on the road, obviously you can only control what you’re eating to a certain degree. And as we know, eating is a huge part of it.

“There’s many things I do [to maintain my health]. I try and make the best choices I can. With hings like hotel breakfasts I don’t even look at the bread and the pastry section.

“I just get some eggs, and if they’ve got savory options, like veg or salad, I’ll have that. People think I’m crazy but…that’s so much better for my for my blood sugar.

“I carry protein shakes with me anywhere I go. So if I’m ever caught out or haven’t got time, I just mix up a shake. And then I always take my yoga mat with me to either do some yoga or some [other] exercise. But often there is a situation like, last week, I was in Cyprus and I went to the gym with the sound man and the camera man, and they loved their gym sessions.

“That’s great to have a little team to sort of motivate each other to go [and workout]. So I think the answer [to staying consistent] is, just do the best I can, make the best decisions I can, and try and keep moving as much as possible,” he admitted.

Craig’s diagnosis may come as a surprise to many as he always looked perfectly healthy on screens. He is now an ambassador for Diabetes UK and understands the condition. Seemingly it is not unusual to look fine but yet be suffering with it.

“Apparently, there are millions of people in this country who have pre diabetes, and even early diabetes, type two, and they have no idea!” he exclaimed.

“That’s why, for me, I try and share as much as I can and next year, I’m starting an where I’m going to start explaining more about my blood sugar stuff to share what I’ve learned with other people, because I think a lot of people just have no idea about this stuff.”

A Place In The Sun returns to Channel 4 on January 6 at 6pm.
