It’s just been so our homes are filled with our new items that we have been gifted, tins of our favourite chocolates and games and toys the family have been playing with. However, you may feel like everything in your home is getting on top of you and clutter is dominating.

So, to get organised and start in a good way, it might be time to get your organisation hat on. Two best friends who met at university, Ellie and Lucy, set up their own organising business known as Morganised. The pair are on a mission to help people get their homes and lives organised.

Don’t miss…

On their page, they recently said: “Don’t be static, make deculttering a priority for you and your family in 2025.” Ellie and Lucy noted that the average person wasted 12 days per year looking for things in their homes.

Plus, 80% of things you keep are never used and this can lead to 47% of couples arguing about the amount of clutter in their home every week. The organising experts also said: “You are 77% more likely to be overweight if you live in a really cluttered home.”

In order to combat this, they have shared 24 thing to declutter before 2024 is out. The pair added: “Head into 2025 feeling lighter with these 24 easy items to remove from your home before the year is out.”

The organised duo advised getting rid of socks with holes, expired toiletries, chipped plates and mugs, worn out towels, books you’ve read, clothes that no longer fit, uncomfortable shoes, and burnt out candles.

It is also wise to clear out your cleaning products of any expired products, and get rid of dead batteries, broken hangers, and wilted plants. Parents may also have toys their children have outgrown or old artwork that they could declutter.

If you have old phones you no longer use it could be worth giving them away. It’s also a good idea to declutter your unused apps on your phone.

What’s more, Lucy and Ellie suggest upgrading worn out bed linen and getting rid of unwanted paperwork. You may also have Christmas decorations from this year that you won’t use next year – so these would be a good thing to sell or give away.

People rushed to comment on the tips clip and one said: “Yes, much needed.” Another wrote: “Yes, I’ve started putting on socks and If theres any faults they go in the bin, same with anything else. None of those lower standards anymore in 2025.”

“And stop buying new stuff,” suggested another. One organised individual added: ” I don’t have any of these in my home. They have been tossed, donated or recycled.”
