Most drivers will have felt a feeling of unease at one time or other whilst on the road.

Whether driving through a dimly lit area that’s unfamiliar, or passing through an eerily quiet stretch of country road, motoring can be a little scary sometimes.

But is there a road or passage that is actually… haunted?

There’s a particular stretch in Scotland that is branded the “ghost road”, due to its apparent supernatural properties.

Also known as “the most haunted road in Scotland”, the A75 in Dumfriesshire is a 95-mile road where you are most likely to encounter supernatural phenomena, according to the Daily Record.

In particular, the stretches between Annan and Gretna and the Kinmount Straight are said to be the spookiest.

Reports of weird happenings on these stretches of road go back at least 50 years; drivers have been convinced that they’ve run over ghostly creatures.

According to a report in carparison, the most famous sighting came from the Ferguson brothers.

They claimed to have witnessed an alarming variety of oddities on their drive down the Ghost Road, including the spirit of an older lady who ran towards them with her arms outstretched.

They also said they saw a screaming man and several different ghostly beasts.

Although this may be enough to put you off using the road, a man named Bob Sturgeon, who previously ran a roadside snack van close to the main “sighting hotspot” claimed he rarely went a week without someone reporting something out of the ordinary.
