This pretty train ride is a journey like no other and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to a as you watch the snow-tipped mountains fade into the distance.

The journey from Trondheim to Bodø in takes 10 hours, and you’ll travel 452 miles through the country. 

Tickets start at just £18, reports  and if you’re planning on taking a longer European trip, you can use the Interrail pass, which includes more than 30 stations.

The Nordlandsbanen Railway is the longest in Norway and the only one in the country to cross the Arctic Circle. 

You’ll see incredible views of forests, mountains, rivers and fjords from Trondheim before reaching Bodø, for ferries to the Lofoten islands.

A monument in the Saltfjellet mountains marks the Arctic Circle, where passengers can see the midnight sun in summer and the northern lights in winter.
