King Charles’s “hot equerry” made a rare appearance on Christmas Day at Sandringham alongside the at St Mary Magdalene.Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson could be seen walking behind , and also carrying armfuls of flowers, which Kate received from well-wishers on morning.Thompson was on social media and became an online sensation after King Charles took the throne in September 2022.However, previously stated Thompson is “understood not to have enjoyed the public attention he received after attending several high-profile events with the King.”

Thompson is a member of the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland and rose through the ranks to become Queen Elizabeth’s most senior bodyguard. He was promoted to Super Equerry to King Charles after the late Queen’s death over two years ago. After the social media frenzy, at the time, a Palace source told the Times, that while he “remains senior equerry to the King and the Queen” he will be serving in a “more executive and less public-facing role”.

In a major life update in October this year, it was revealed Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson Olivia Lewis, in .The announcement read: “The engagement is announced between Lieutenant Colonel Jonny Thompson, son of Mr and Mrs Alan Thompson of Morpeth, Northumberland, and Olivia Rose, daughter of Mr and Mrs Simon Lewis OBE of Primrose Hill, London.”
