Gerwyn Price and Joe Cullen played out a classic
Gerwyn Price sent a cheeky quip the way of fellow World Darts Championship ace Joe Cullen following the pair’s Ally Pally epic on Friday night.
Price had raced ahead in the round three clash, establishing a comfortable 3-0 set advantage.
But his lead quickly evaporated when Cullen found his groove and mounted a fightback. In the blink of an eye the Bradford-born arrowsmith was back level, with the match forced into a deciding set.
It would eventually go the way of Price, but it wasn’t for a lack of drama. The duo hit an astonishing nine breaks of throw across the last set, with double finishing proving a problem for the pair.
Speaking to Sky Sports following the contest, Price cheekily referenced the recent interviews from Cullen, where the 35-year-old went viral for his less-than-talkative approach.
Price said: “I can play a lot better than I played tonight, so can Joe. No disrespect to him… nobody wants to disrespect Joe Cullen these days.”
Abigail Davies, who was interviewing price on stage, jumped in to say: “I certainly learned the hard way.”
A reference to the infamous interview from earlier on in the World Championship where Davies was asking the questions when following his round two victory.

Gerwyn Price battled hard in his round three clash with Joe Cullen
Unlike his rival, Price was happy to stick around and explain his victory in clear detail, telling Davies: “I kept breaking him in that last set, but just couldn’t hold my throw. Trying too hard, wanted it a little bit too much.
“It probably felt that way all throughout the game. I was 2-0 up in sets, could’ve easily been 2-0 down.”
Price will now take on fellow Welshman and World Cup team-mate Jonny Clayton in the last-16 of the 2025 Worlds.
