Burt, the saltwater crocodile who starred in the iconic 1986 film Crocodile Dundee, has died at an estimated age of 90.
His passing was announced by Crocosaurus Cove, the Darwin sanctuary that had been his home since 2008.
What less people know is that Burt gained fame not just for his role in Crocodile Dundee, but for his uncanny ability to “predict” outcomes of major events.
He was given the nickname “Psychic Croc” in 2018 after he went viral for correctly forecasting France’s victory over Croatia in the FIFA World Cup final.
He did this by biting a French flag over a Croatian one, when both had chicken wings attached to them.

Burt made one psychic prediction while he was alive
Burt was captured in the 1980s from the Reynolds River in Australia’s Northern Territory, and named after actor Burt Reynolds.
His own moment came when he was cast in Crocodile Dundee, where he appeared in the memorable scene where Mick Dundee (Paul Hogan) saves journalist Sue Charlton (Linda Kozlowski) from a crocodile attack.
The film became a massive hit, grossing over $300 million worldwide on a modest budget of $8.8 million and catapulting Burt into stardom alongside its human cast.
Burt’s time in didn’t end with Crocodile Dundee. He later served as the visual effects model for the 2007 Australian thriller Rogue, which depicted a monstrous crocodile terrorising a group of tourists.

In his later years, Burt settled into life at Crocosaurus Cove, where his fiery temperament and impressive size made him a big attraction.
Saltwater crocodiles typically live 70–100 years, so Burt’s longevity made him one of the longest surviving reptiles of his species.
Crocosaurus Cove described Burt as a “fierce and fascinating ambassador for crocodile education” in a commemorative post they made when he died four days ago.
They have plans to honour him with a commemorative sign at the sanctuary.
