A heart-wrenching storyline is in store on , as a Weatherfield legend will be diagnosed with cancer.
Kevin Webster, a treasured member of the soap’s iconic Webster family, which has graced our screens for generations, will face his toughest year yet in 2025. Michael Le Vell’s beloved character first arrived in 1983 as Hilda Ogden’s lodger and quickly won over the nation’s hearts, becoming one of ‘s most enduring figures.
With a turbulent life marked by high-stakes plotsranging from his longstanding union with Sally and raising his daughters, Rosie and Sophie, to his current love interest, Abi, the mechanic’s life has been anything but smooth.
The bombshell development comes straight from the top, with ‘s executive producer Kate Brooks divulging to Plymouth Live that Kevin will be diganosed with testicular cancer battle – and it will put his relationship through the wringer.
Brooks disclosed: “As we go into the new year, Kevin will discover he has got testicular cancer which causes a massive strain on his relationship.”, reports Plymouth Live.

She also emphasized the importance of delivering an authentic narrative, saying: “Abi is a really strong character, but she is going through her own turmoil at the same time. We want to tell this really truthfully, we’ve been working closely with MacMillan to make sure that we tell the story right.”
Kate, discussing Kevin’s reaction to a pivotal storyline, revealed: “It was really important actually, that we don’t show Kevin being embarrassed to talk to his friends about it. And he’s quite open about it which I felt was refreshing.”
Yet, it appears Kevin’s romance with Abi is set for rocky times ahead.

Kate disclosed: “But ultimately it’s about his relationship with Abi and that is going to be truly tested.”
The soap’s new head honcho also hinted at further turmoil in Weatherfield, adding: “Abi is going through her own situation as she struggles in the aftermath of a big event that happens in January.
“She loves Kevin and he loves her, but the temptation comes Abi’s way let’s put it that way…”
