fans may be in for a shock as a member of the Platt family could potentially meet their end, and it’s not looking promising for David Platt.
The popular soap has been rife with drama for the beloved family recently. On Christmas Day, Gail (Helen Worth), the family matriarch, bid farewell to the street after 50 years.
Meanwhile, David (Jack P. Shepherd) has found himself in hot water with Mason Radcliffe’s (Luca Toolan) brothers, following his theft of a large sum of illicit cash from gangster Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) earlier this year. With Gail’s house on the market, David took drastic action to prevent his family from becoming homeless, leading to a clash with Harvey and his crew.
Harvey ordered Mason’s brothers Logan (Harry Lowbridge) and Matty (Seamus McGoff) to retrieve the stolen money at all costs. This situation is set to have “massive consequences” for David, according to ‘s executive producer Kate Brooks.
Speaking to Plymouth Live, Kate hinted at what viewers can anticipate for David Platt in 2025, teasing that “things escalate massively” for the Platts, culminating in a “massive stunt.”, reports Plymouth Live.

It’s been a dramatic few months for the Platts
She added: “The story we are telling is one of a very desperate David trying to protect his family and trying to keep his family and keep the dogs at bay, to keep Harvey and his goons at bay.”
The soap’s new executive has teased an explosive storyline for David Platt, revealing a high-octane stunt set to shake things up in February. “And it comes to a massive head in early February when we play a massive stunt which has massive consequences for David. In trying to protect everyone, he ends up losing quite a few things that he holds dear.”
Further intrigue is promised as an unexpected character becomes entangled in David’s troubles. The boss divulged: “Somebody does get embroiled in David’s downfall which is quite unexpected.”
She elaborated on the plight of David, noting his unfamiliarity with the criminal underworld: “David is a hairdresser he’s not used to being involved and embroiled with bad guys, drug barons and gangsters. That’s not his world.”

The boss has teased the death of David the dog
The showrunner also hinted at a potential tragedy involving a beloved family pet, teasing: “But what happens if you take a guy that’s just very ordinary and put him in that world where people are acting and reacting without any thought of consequence.”
She provocatively added about the Platt’s dog, David: “They don’t care about David. They don’t care he has a dog; which might be a bit of a spoiler! ” before playfully suggesting: “The dog doesn’t die, or does he?!”
Despite the looming peril, the Platts won’t have a dull moment ahead. Kate assured fans: “It was important to show how a normal fella reacts to all of this. But there’s masses of stuff for the Platts going forward. They are going to be very busy indeed!”
