Conor McGregor is working towards his return
Former UFC champ Eddie Alvarez has hinted that a potential bout between and might be more hype than reality. Not seen in the Octagon since a tough loss to Dustin Poirier in 2021, after which he broke his leg, McGregor is preparing for his much-anticipated return.
He was slated for a tussle with Michael Chandler earlier this year, but an injury saw him sidelined once more.
Despite his eagerness to re-enter the UFC battleground, McGregor doesn’t shy away from the idea of getting into the boxing ring for some high-profile encounters.
The brash Irish fighter, known for his active presence online, recently stirred social media by challenging WWE star Logan Paul. He wrote online: “The rumours of a bout with Topuria are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.”
However, buzz is now swirling that negotiations are actually steering towards a fight with Logan’s brother, Jake Paul.

McGregor has rumoured to be in talks to fight Jake Paul
McGregor has been toying with the idea of a bout against Logan Paul, but his ongoing back-and-forth with Logan’s brother Jake seems to hint at a more probable boxing match with ‘The Problem Child’.
Alvarez, McGregor’s past adversary, has pointed out the complexities of McGregor stepping away from the UFC for such a fight.
Speaking to , Alvarez remarked: “Realistically, I think he still has two fights left on his UFC contract. I just know how difficult it is, especially when you’re that valuable to a company. I haven’t been as valuable as Conor, but back when I was basically Bellator’s main guy, I know how difficult it is to get out of those contracts. They don’t make it easy.
McGregor recently called out Logan Paul online
“For him, making the company hundreds of millions of dollars, I don’t think it’s going to be an easy exit. I think he still has two more fights with the UFC, and I’m not sure how old Conor is, but he’s not getting any younger. So it’s going to be tough for him to fight those fights out and move onto another contract. So realistically, I don’t know if he could fight BKFC, and if he does, it’ll be maybe when he’s older.”
While McGregor needs the green light from the UFC due to his current contract obligations, there’s a glimmer of hope for negotiations since both the UFC and WWE share the same parent company, TKO. Nevertheless, even with a potential deal on the table, arranging a fight with Paul could still present significant challenges.
