Creating a cosy indoor space is essential in the months, and for many, this means introducing indoor plants.

However, winter can be a challenging time for due to the change in temperature and reduced daylight.

If you’re looking to introduce indoor plants into your home this winter, an expert has shared which green companions will be resilient against harsh conditions.

Elise Harlock of recommended a variety of plants, including the snake plant.

“In addition, its upright, sword-like leaves store water, making it highly drought-tolerant.”

If you are known for forgetting to water your plants, the ZZ plant is a perfect choice.

Its waxy dark green leaves look stunning in any location, and it can “withstand neglect”.

The expert added: “The ZZ plant practically thrives on indifference, making it ideal for winter months when natural light is scarce.”

The peace lily is a classic choice, and although it prefers moderate light, it can adapt to low-light areas.

Elise said: “Peace lilies are great for winter. They are easily adaptable and also improve air quality.

“They love a bit of humidity, so misting them occasionally will help combat dry air from heaters.”

A spider plant is also a great option for brightening up a shelf or hanging baskets.

It can tolerate changing conditions, meaning it will even thrive in rooms heated by radiators.

The expert continued: “Pothos is perfect for adding greenery to dimly lit corners while requiring minimal care.

“It’s the perfect plant for busy households who might not have time to think about an entire plant care routine.”
