Floyd Mayweather has extended his real estate property portfolio
Boxing icon spent his Christmas adding to his lucrative real estate portfolio with a lavish £15.7million purchase. The 47-year-old’s new property is located on Sixth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan and reportedly stretches almost a quarter of a block.
Mayweather began his real estate spree in October, buying 60 properties to the tune of £315m. His interest in his latest buy was the result of his spending in stores along the same block.
The building, positioned on the south-east corner of the intersection at 47th Street, consists of offices, a few jewellery shops, and a large billboard. It is an attractive part of New York City, situated a few minutes east of Broadway and three blocks south of Radio City Music Hall and Rockefeller Center.
“I used to shop in the diamond exchange as a young adult,” Mayweather told , who were first to report the news. “I never thought I would end up owning this important property at the entrance of 47th street.
“Through hard work and dedication, anything is possible.”
Mayweather’s real estate splurge several months ago saw him land the Versace Mansion in Miami. He bought 60 properties in New York City, a decision which is set to see his net worth soar.
The American is reportedly valued at around £1.5billion. His investments will also keep his personal brand in the public eye.
Mayweather’s boxing career saw him finish with a perfect record of 50-0. Remarkably, his fights included 27 knockouts and 12 world titles in five different weight divisions. He holds a joint record of 26 consecutive wins in world title bouts.
Floyd Mayweather has not fought competitively since 2017
However, Mayweather has not fought competitively since beating UFC star Conor McGregor in a crossover boxing match in 2017. He won by TKO in the 10th round to record the 50th win of his career. Mayweather was expected to earn at least £80m from the fight.
The Michigan-born star has not yet been tempted out of retirement. He shared the ring in an exhibition fight with Logan Paul in 2021 but seems unlikely to face any of Jake Paul, Tommy Fury or KSI any time soon.
Instead, Mayweather could continue extending his real estate property portfolio. He could be set to earn millions from his recent purchases.
