Bulbs must meet strict UK rules
, Edd said: “I noticed you can now buy illegal headlamp bulbs in kind of pretty much common stores which seems a little bit strange. I don’t know whether the Government is trying to experiment.”
He added: “There’s such a plethora available you’ve then got to be really careful. I noticed an anomaly going to my local shop that actually it’s very easy to buy bulbs that are illegal to use on the road.”

However, these details are often hidden in the small print on the side of the packet making it almost impossible to tell.
DON’T MISS [COMMENT]
Some bulbs sold are only for use off-road or on racetracks and are too bright to be used on a normal road.
Edd commented: “It’s only when you look at the very back and you look in the small print, then you can see it’s not actually not for on-road use. It’s not street legal, it’s not e-marked, which is not ideal.”
He added: “This model actually is legal on the road. But you have to look just there on the side. It’s not easy to see.”
It is crucial road users ensure that any broken headlights are fixed as soon as possible.
Taking to the roads with broken headlights is a safety issue with drivers unable to see any hazards in front of them.
Meanwhile, bulb issues can also invalidate car insurance policies if motorists are involved in a car crash.
