Jeff Stelling had a howler of a Christmas thanks to a Twitter post
Jeff Stelling was caught off-guard in the festive season as he fell victim to a cheeky prank orchestrated by his sons, which played out on the social platform X (formerly Twitter) for the entire internet’s amusement. The ex-‘ Soccer Saturday star, 69, shared a snapshot on X back in 2022 that seemingly featured an array of pigs in blankets a culinary Christmas classic comprising sausages wrapped in bacon, reports .
Yet, nestled amongst the appetising dish was an audaciously presented bacon-wrapped penis accompanying Stelling’s unwitting caption: “Love cooking Xmas dinner, I always do it in the buff!”
It wasn’t long before Stelling caught on to the racy reality of his tweet, swiftly retracting the post and venting his retributive plan against his sons, writing: “My bloody sons. All their presents going back! All Robbie will get is a Darlo shirt and Matt a ticket to a Palace game. FFS!!”
The stunt drew laughter from many, with former host Simon McCoy replying: “Very naughty. But bloody funny… Happy Christmas x.” Similarly, Jermaine Beckford, the ex-Leeds and Everton forward, joined in the jest with a single laughing crying face emoji, eliciting a humorous response from Stelling: “Kids mate!!!”
Stelling, married to his wife Liz since 1998, is father to three children with sons Robbie and Matthew arriving in 1998 and 1999, while daughter Olivia was welcomed into the world in 2003. Stelling’s first two children were the masterminds behind the festive joke, with Robbie facing the threat of receiving a shirt from Hartlepool’s rivals Darlington, while Matt was warned of a ticket to watch Crystal Palace due to his allegiance to Brighton.
The TV host swiftly deleted the post
Following Stelling’s exit from Soccer Saturday last year, he has since joined Amazon Prime’s coverage. In a delightful update for football enthusiasts nationwide, his former colleague Chris Kamara is set to reunite with Stelling on Amazon this month, which will broadcast 10 matches over Boxing Day and December 27.
Announcing the news earlier this week, the former Brentford midfielder wrote: “Best phone call ever this afternoon inviting me to do the Forest v Spurs game on Boxing Day reporting back to the Unbelievable @JeffStelling in the studio. I thought I was done, so it’s a big thank you Amazon I’m back.”
