Gavin and Stacey is back with one final episode this Christmas Day, marking the end of the iconic sitcom.
Fans will finally find out whether Nessa (Ruth Jones) and Smithy (James Corden) tied the knot, and how both the Shipman and West families are getting on, after not being on-screen since Christmas 2019.
All of the show’s iconic characters are returning, including Neil the Baby – the son of Nessa and Smithy. The same actor has played Neil ever since he was a baby, with Oscar Hartland being cast in the role back in 2008.
Oscar, now 17, reprised his role for the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special in 2019, and is now returning to screens one last time as Neil.
Away from his acting role, the teenager is a budding musician. He is the guitarist and co-frontman of South Wales band Redwood City, and even competed on The Voice Kids as a solo artist in 2023.
Oscar Hartland has starred in Gavin and Stacey since he was a baby
Oscar previously opened up about finding fame as a baby, telling : “I grew up knowing I was Neil The Baby, but it was after the Christmas special that my life literally turned around.
“I went from a kid that was in a show when he was a baby to a kid in a TV – even going into the supermarket was mad.”
Now, he’ll be back playing Neil in Gavin and Stacey: The Finale, and there’s no doubt fans are eager to find out what Neil’s been up to.
Neil is the son of Smithy and Nessa in Gavin and Stacey
The official teaser for the Gavin and Stacey finale reads: “It’s five years since we left Nessa down on one knee declaring her love for Smithy and asking him to marry her. And a lot has happened in those five years.
“In Barry, Bryn’s packing the Picasso in readiness for a trip to Essex; Stacey and Gavin are looking for new ways to spice up their seventeen year marriage and Gwen is behaving most strangely. Nessa’s started a new business venture and Neil the Baby’s about to begin an apprenticeship with his dad.
“Over in Billericay Pam is stressing out at the prospect of playing hostess, not helped by a newly retired Mick practicing his golf swings in the living room and there have been more ups and downs in Pete and Dawn’s relationship. Join us on the journey to Barry and Billericay as we catch up with the Shipmans and the Wests for the very last time and maybe find out what exactly did happen on that fishing trip.”
Gavin & Stacey: The Finale will air on iPlayer and One from 9pm on 25 December
