For the first time in its history, Call the Midwife’s Christmas special will be a double feature.
The beloved series is set to return for its 14th season next year but before that, fans can look forward to a festive treat at Nonnatus House.
This year, viewers will be treated to not one but two Christmas episodes, scheduled for Christmas Day and Boxing Day, instead of the usual 90-minute special.
As anticipation builds for the return of Call the Midwife, here’s a rundown of who will be gracing our screens for the holiday episodes.

Season 13 left us hanging as Trixie Aylward announced her plans to relocate to New York with her husband but will she really bid farewell to Poplar?
In the Christmas special, Trixie, brought to life by Helen George, will make a “fleeting visit” to Nonnatus House.
Beyond the show, George showcased her dancing skills in the 2015 series of , finishing sixth with partner Aljaz Skorjanec.

Laura Main’s character, former nun-turned-nurse Shelagh Turner, will have her hands full in the second Christmas episode as she “helps a family battle against appalling poverty”.

The Call the Midwife trailer features Fred Buckle, played by Cliff Parisi, donning a Santa Claus outfit as he brings cheer to sick children in hospital.
Before his stint on the 1960s-themed series, actor Cliff Parisi was renowned for his role as Minty in the legendary soap .
Joyce Highland – Renee Bailey
Renee Bailey, who has appeared in several shorts and shows like Rebel Cheer Squad and Mood, will reprise her role as the newly qualified nurse and Season 13 newcomer, Joyce Highland.
Nancy Corrigan – Megan Cusack
According to the synopsis, “Romance is on the cards” for Nancy Corrigan, as she is spotted getting cosy with a man named Roger. Could this be the beginning of a new love story for Nancy as Christmas approaches?
Miss Higgins – Georgie Glen
Georgie Glen, known for her roles as history teacher Audrey McFall in ‘s Waterloo Road, Ridley, Damned and ‘s Behind Her Eyes, will return as Miss Higgins, who is expecting her grandson Harry for Christmas.
Call the Midwife: Nancy Corrigan is played by actress Megan Cusack.
Call the Midwife: Reggie Jackson is played by actor Daniel Laurie.

The Buckles are gearing up for Reggie’s return in the forthcoming episodes, but sadly, the festivities will be “thrown into turmoil”.
Before joining Call the Midwife, actor Daniel Laurie had roles in Finding Alice, Stella, Vera and the TV movie The Dark Tower.
Sister Monica Joan – Judy Parfitt
The heartwarming period drama Call the Midwife wouldn’t be complete without Sister Monica Joan, a character that has been part of the show since its inception, played by actress Judy Parfitt.
