Christmas markets are a well-loved tradition across Europe and the UK in which regular roads are transformed into a winter wonderland.

Patrons will have finished up the Christmas shopping in the last few days, even leaving town to spend Christmas with their families.

Though many markets have closed up shop this week, however, there are a handful keeping the doors open until January.

You can extend your festivities just that bit longer and drink some mulled wine or sample some cheeses even after returning to work.

These markets may also have the benefit of being a bit less busy after Christmas, so without further ado, here are some UK Christmas markets that remain open until January.

Winter Wonderland, Hyde Park

Hyde Park’s popular is open until January 5, 2025 with plenty of tickets available in the days after Christmas.

Winter Wonderland first opened in 2007 as a small funfair at the edge of Hyde Park, but in the years since, it has grown into one of the UK’s most popular festive attractions estimated to attract around 2.5 million guests annually.

There’s plenty to do, from a Narnia-themed bar to ice skating and a Haunted Mansion, among other rides. So whether you’re looking for some fun with friends or a family day out, Winter Wonderland is a perfect choice for anyone.

Edinburgh Winterfest

opened on November 15 and its last day is January 4, making it one of the UK’s longer-running festive markets.

Located through the city’s East and West Princes Street Gardens, George Street, and St Andrew Square, there’s plenty to do alongside the traditional market, with fairground rides, community events and a chilly ice bar.

The Christmas market runs throughout Hogmanay, Edinburgh’s New Year’s Eve celebrations, where the city comes alive with live music, street parties and stunning firework displays.

Glasgow Winterfest

Like nearby Edinburgh, Glasgow’s Christmas Market is open in January, with its final day scheduled to be January 5. That gives visitors a few added days of festive cheer to enjoy mulled wine, bratwurst and other Christmas staples at St Enoch Square and George Square.

Coventry Christmas Market and Big Wheel

Coventry Christmas Market, known for its big wheel, will also remain open until January 5. The popular wheel will be open daily (except Christmas Day) from 10am to 10 pm until the market’s final day.

Christmas at Chatsworth

Chatsworth House in Derbyshire is hosting its own , which is open until January 1. Alongside the market, visitors can also enjoy a Christmas light trail, which is open for a few days longer than the market, closing on January 5 instead.

Blenheim Christmas Market & Light Trail

Like Chatsworth, also has its own Christmas market. Closing on January 1, visitors can enjoy shopping alongside a light trail, an ice skating rink, and a Neverland-themed afternoon tea.

Bournemouth Christmas Market

For those who aren’t nursing a hangover on New Year’s Day, then is open until 11pm on January 1, meaning you’ll be able to get those last little drops of Christmas spirit while enjoying some sea air.

Christmas in Leicester

While Leicester’s Christmas Market itself closes on December 29, the Wheel of Light, ice rink, town hall illuminations and the Billy Bates Fun Fair all remain open till January 5, so there will still be some festivities to enjoy in the New Year.
