After explaining his decision to leave Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho out of the Manchester derby squad, the 39-year-old emphasised the importance of all-round professionalism: “It is important the performance in training, the performance in games, the way you dress, the way you eat, the way you engage with your team-mates, the way you push your team-mates.”
The report suggests that Rashford’s ambition to reclaim a spot in the England squad under new manager Thomas Tuchel is steering his preference towards staying in Europe, rather than moving to Saudi Arabia or the United States. Despite taking a firm approach with Rashford, Amorim has expressed his willingness to support the striker, acknowledging the team’s need for his quality.

“It is a hard situation,” Amorim admitted to Sky Sports. “I understand that these players have a lot of people around them, making choices that are not the first idea from the player. I am always here to help Marcus as another player. I have to do what I have to do. They chose to do the interview as it is not just Marcus. I understand that.
“As a coach I focus on performance and the way you train. The rest, it is better for me and the club to deal with that when the time comes. At the moment I focus on improving Marcus and we need a talented guy like Marcus. I forget the interview now and see what I see on the pitch.” Fans are left wondering if Rashford will make a comeback to the squad for their Boxing Day game against Wolves on Thursday.
