Mum shares ‘trick to delicious Yorkshire pudding’ – but some make critical remark

A traditional Christmas dinner really hits the spot thanks to the elite combination of crispy yet fluffy roasties, moist turkey, and veggies which are cooked to perfection, all covered in lashings of gravy.

But does a Yorkshire pudding belong on your dinner? Charlotte Crouch, who posts on under username @charlottescrunchymama, said festive prep can always start early ahead of December 25.

She admitted: “Today, I’m gonna make my Yorkshire ready for Christmas day,” saying she didn’t want to be “spending all day in the kitchen cooking” as she was making a meal for 10 people – and many will be able to relate.

Her hack was to “prep them up and put them in the freezer”, but how do you ensure they’re going to be as perfect as you want them to be?

She said: “Now the trick to getting banging Yorkshire puddings is having the same volume of eggs, milk, and flour.”

Anyone else prep early?!

Charlotte admitted she didn’t “weigh any part of it” and just uses a cup as her measure, so she’ll have a “whole cup of eggs, a whole cup of milk, and a whole cup of flour”, then she just put all the into a mixing bowl.

She shared plain flour works better than self-raising, but you can still get “banging results” from self-raising. “The key to making it rise, is the eggs,” she said.

Charlotte then set her mixer up, adding her “balloon whisk” and said she would pre-heat the oven to 200 degrees celcius while the mixture was coming together. She explained: “I will also pre-heat my oil as well.”

Into the tins, she poured in olive oil into each of the sections, saying she was going to put it into the oven “to warm up”. Once it was heated, she filled up each of the sections with the thick mixture, saying she did it “half to three quarters full” while joking her Yorkshires are “famous”.

Charlotte described them as “amazing, beautiful, and one of the best parts of a roast dinner” – but this angered some people in the comments section who argued “you don’t have Yorkshire pudding on Christmas dinner”. Charlotte’s reply was: “Hell yes you do! I don’t have turkey though we are having beef! Have had Yorkshires since I can remember!”

Another said she should have “whatever you want” on her dinner because it’s “Christmas”.

She also claimed another thing which made her Yorkshire pudding so amazing was the gravy piled high inside them. Charlotte said: “I always make proper gravy because if you’re gonna do something, you better do something properly.”

Charlotte shared she put her Yorkies in the oven “for about 30 minutes” and then she showed them in all their huge glory as she filmed them cooked in the oven.

Next she was going to “let them cool down” and then she’d “take them all out, pop them into a bag, into the freezer”. Finally, she could “use them on Christmas Day and just cook them from frozen quickly in the air fryer for a few minutes”.

Someone commented: “This is my first year hosting and there’s 15 of us! I need to early prep! I never would have thought of this.” Charlotte replied: “You can prep so much in advance. Saves washing up on the day too.”
