Fans weren’t happy with Terry Bradshaw’s comments.
Terry Bradshaw might have had an iconic NFL career on the field but the legendary quarterback is currently upsetting fans off it. The FOX pundit has courted controversy for his stinging verbal attack on A.J. Brown, after his recent fallout with team-mate with Jalen Hurts.
Bradshaw, 76, is a four-time champion with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and went as far to say that because of Brown he was “pulling for Washington” on Sunday ahead of the game between the Commanders and the Eagles.
He got his wish, with the hosts running out 36-33 winners in the NFL East clash.
Philadelphia sports podcaster Josh Reynolds reacted furiously to Bradshaw’s statement, writing on X: “Just watched go off on AJ Brown for being selfish after a Fox segment on how things are different … Get this old man off our tv’s.”
And fans were equally scathing, with many citing the fact that Brown, 27, had already publicly made amends with Hurts. @chrisblaylock33 said: “ with a ridiculous rant about AJ Brown for no reason whatsoever, I hope he goes for 200 just to make him look like an idiot.”
@MKSongbird added: “ had to ‘get it out’ that he thinks AJ Brown is selfish immediately after a video segment featuring AJ Brown talking about how he can’t be great without the greatness of his teammates?”
AJ Brown excelled for the Eagles on Sunday.
@HuckPalmer even claimed that Bradshaw, who also led the Pittsburgh Steelers to eight AFC Central championships, wasn’t an overrated player himself. “ is a dinosaur. Was a mediocre quarterback. And shouldn’t be on TV anymore.”
To his credit, Brown answered his critics on Sunday through performance alone. Despite his team’s defeat, he secured eight receptions for 97 yards and a touchdown. His display saw him make Eagles history, becoming the side’s first player for 39 years to record three consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons.
Since 1994, Bradshaw has been a sports analyst and co-host of FOX NFL Sunday. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1989, having retired with then Super Bowl records 932 yards passes and nine touchdowns.
Don’t miss…
He’s yet to respond to the fan backlash over his comments, but Bradshaw is unlikely to be perturbed. Renowned for his mental toughness as a player, he’s carried his strong mind into the media and has become renowned for airing strong views.
Ole Miss college graduate Brown was traded to the Eagles in 2022. In April this year, he signed a £77million contract extension, keeping him with the franchise through to the 2029 season.
