A special festive episode of Beyond Paradise is set to air on One, and it promises to be a real treat. The story begins with Bob Holland enjoying some quiet time at home, watching family videos, when he’s suddenly confronted by a surprise visitor – the ghost of his late wife, Linda, played by Rosalind Adler.

She’s insistent that he leaves the house immediately, leaving Bob shaken.

As the events escalate, with a second eerie encounter and a mysterious message on a mirror, DI Humphrey Goodman and his team are called in to get to the bottom of things. While Esther Williams is her usual sceptical self, Humphrey is more than happy to dive into his first-ever ghostly investigation.

Kris Marshall, who plays Humphrey, shared his thoughts on the episode: “Humphrey doesn’t rule anything out, but he’s always up for a challenge. He loves unusual cases-anything out of the ordinary, whether it’s ghosts, or just something strange. He enjoys getting stuck into these mysteries and picking them apart.”

As a seasoned policeman, Humphrey approaches the case with a healthy dose of scepticism, but what really gets him going is the thrill of unravelling the mystery. Meanwhile, he and Martha are navigating the ups and downs of life as foster parents to teenager Jaiden.

Kris added: “Every child is different, and fostering is an emotional rollercoaster. Each placement brings its unique challenges, and Martha and Humphrey face them together. While Humphrey is supportive and involved, most of the parenting tends to fall on Martha’s shoulders. But Humphrey does find the whole fostering experience deeply rewarding.”

The festive edition of Beyond Paradise is set to grace our screens on One, with the Christmas special scheduled for Friday, December 27 at 9pm.

Viewers who miss the live broadcast can catch up with the episode on iPlayer. Delving deeper into the narrative, Zahra revealed: “Esther is 99 per cent sceptical, but there’s a tiny part of her that is open to the possibility.”
