Antiques Road Trip’s Mark Stacey accidentally dropped a clock
expert Mark Stacey was left red-faced after a mishap involving a clock during the show’s Scottish road trip with fellow antique guru Catherine Southon. The 52 year old, in search of an item “in need of minor restoration” accidentally dropped the timepiece from standing height, causing it to require even more repair.
The incident occurred while they were sourcing items in Dundee, Forfar, and Inverurie en route to Aberdeen. Narrator Tim Wonnacott described the scene: “Inside Clepington Antiques, owner Derrick is standing by to help. With Catherine snapping at his heels after the last auction, Mark’s decided to get all tactical on us.”
Mark, explaining his strategy to the camera, said: “What I’m trying to do is… we’re going to a salesroom, so I’m trying to find things like this which might need a bit of restoration.”
Mark Stacey was left gobsmacked by his error
However, as he turned the clock upside down, the face fell out and rolled away. Tim Wonnacott couldn’t resist commenting on the blunder: “Oh, that’s a good tactic Mark.”
A flustered Mark scrambled to collect the parts, remarking to viewers: “Can I just point out? Can I just say something to you at home? That’s not recommended. You shouldn’t actually do that.”
Tim sharply rebuked Mark for mishandling the item, exclaiming: “No you should not! Unless you want to pay the full ticket price for it. Thankfully though, nothing’s broken, but best find something else to look at, eh?”
Don’t miss…
This took place amid ongoing tensions with Catherine, following Mark storming off earlier in the week.
In a clear signal at the episode’s outset, Mark declared with determination: “I’m going to be very, very tactical. Oh yes. The gloves are off. The gloves are off Catherine,” which caused his adversary Catherine to respond with a shocked “Are you? That worries me a bit.”
