Africa’s sunniest country where the sun shines for 12 hours day in winter

This is the perfect place for a break over winter if you’re hoping to catch some sun.

With winter kicking in, Brits are often looking to other countries for – and this country won’t disappoint.

According to , Tanzania is the ultimate winter sun destination, offering 12.06 hours of sunshine per day which is 8.53 hours more than London.

Its research set out to find the ultimate for sports fans, by comparing the daily sunshine hours in twenty popular locations to that in the UK, to see how many extra hours of sun visitors can typically experience each day. 

Tanzania is home to golden beaches, stunning landscapes and will provide a much needed break from bleak UK winter.

Next on the list is Malé, in the Maldives which has an additional 8.35 hours of sunshine a day compared to London.

Malé offers 11.88 hours of which is 16% more than popular spots like Marrakech (6.53) and 8.35 more hours than London.

With its clear waters, white beaches, and cultural experiences, Malé is ideal for sun seekers.

South Africa’s Cape Town ranks third with 11.47 hours of winter sun per day.

Cape Town offers an impressive 11.47 hours of winter sunshine daily. This means an additional 7.94 hours of sun compared to London and almost 12% more than that in Miami (7). 

Known for its stunning beaches and iconic Table Mountain, Cape Town is a . The city also offers a thriving cultural scene, world-class dining and nearby Cape Winelands, making it a .

Malta and Ibiza rank the lowest on the list, offering the least winter sun when compared to the UK. 

The popular destination of Malta enjoys an average of 6.76 hours of per day, with just 4.53 extra hours compared to London, while Ibiza offers only 4.54 additional hours.
