Call the Midwife Christmas special cast

Despite Trixie’s announcement of her move to New York with her husband, Matthew Aylward (played by Olly Rix), she will return for the Christmas specials and season 14.

However, there are hints that actor Rix may not reprise his role as Matthew, and he is notably absent from the Christmas cast list.

Rest assured, all other fan favourites will be back, including Jenny Agutter as Sister Julienne, Rebecca Gethings as Sister Veronica, Linda Bassett as Nurse Phyllis Crane, Georgie Glen as Miss Higgins, and Judy Parfitt as Sister Monica Joan.

Stephen McGann will reprise his role as Doctor Turner, alongside Laura Main and Max Macmillan, who play his wife, Shelagh Turner, and son, Timothy Turner.

Fans can also look forward to seeing more of the fresh-faced nurses Joyce Highland and Rosalind Clifford, brought to life by Renee Bailey and Natalie Quarry.

And of course, Call the Midwife wouldn’t be complete without Cliff Parisi and Annabelle Apsion returning as Fred and Violet Buckle.
