Outnumbered’s Ramona Marquez teases show future ahead of 2024 Christmas special

Ramona Marquez, famed for her role in Outnumbered, has teased fans with the possibility of the beloved sitcom’s return for a full series.

Earlier this year, it was announced that the ‘s hit comedy Outnumbered is set for a grand return with a second Christmas special, featuring Hugh Dennis and Claire Skinner as the beleaguered parents Pete and Sue Brockman, alongside Ramona, Daniel Roche, and Tyger Drew Honey as their children Karen, Ben, and Jake.

The series, which originally ran for five seasons from 2007 to 2014, plus a festive special in 2016, chronicled the daily bedlam of the Brockman household and their three kids.

Now, with the children all grown up, the upcoming 2024 Christmas special, airing on Boxing Day, will showcase the Brockmans coping with their adult progeny within the confines of a smaller abode.

Pete and Sue are depicted in the teaser trailer still grappling with parenting challenges as they bring together their brood, including a grandchild, for a classic family Christmas. Yet, it appears there may be some less-than-cheerful news they’re hesitant to disclose to their offspring.

This reunion marks the first time the cast has been together on screen in eight years, and Romona, speaking at the National Television Awards, hinted that this might not be the last, remarking: “I think people are hungry for that nostalgia.”

“When I heard about it I was so excited and I just hoped everyone else had the same reaction. I think Karen will be working her magic behind the scenes. She’ll be sorting stuff out and I’d like to see more of that from her.”, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Regarding the possibility of a full series revival, the star offered a tantalising hint: “If people want it then definitely. I think the show’s centred around kids but there’s been shows which I really love when the kids do grow up and I love seeing them as adults as well so it depends if people want that but we’d love it.”

On discussing the imminent Christmas special, Hugh couldn’t contain his excitement: “I can’t wait for the Brockmans to be back together again. Pete and Sue have downsized, the children are no longer children, but I’m sure family life will prove to be just as chaotic as ever.”

Claire also shared her anticipation: “I’m really looking forward to being reunited with my TV family. Working on this wonderful comedy doesn’t feel like work and is one of the greatest joys for us all.”
