has won a popular vote among his fellow drivers, taking the crown despite being snubbed by and eight others.The Dutchman wrapped up his fourth straight Drivers’ Championship title, winning nine races in total. It was a particularly impressive feat, given that did not have the quickest car for the majority of the campaign.Verstappen has since been named the best individual driver of the year, winning held by his rivals on the grid. Eight drivers placed him at the top of their lists but nine others, including Hamilton, did not.

The incoming driver was one of three racers who did not take part in the vote, with and Verstappen himself also skipping it.All of the drivers who took part in the voting put Verstappen inside their top four, with the 27-year-old clearly a respected figure among his peers.An individual breakdown of the voting was not released, with each list submitted on the proviso it would remain a secret. Drivers were allowed to vote for themselves, but many did not.Participating drivers were asked to rank their top 10 drivers of the year, with scores given based on the current points system. The total scores from each list were then combined to create an overall ranking. was voted the second-best driver behind Verstappen, while Charles Leclerc came home in third to replicate the top three positions in the Drivers’ Championship.
