Lennox Lewis with fellow heavyweight legend Wladimir Klitschko at the Usyk-Fury rematch
Lennox Lewis interrupted Frank Warren mid-rant as promoter fumed about Oleksandr Usyk’s victory. The Gypsy King lost 116-112 on all three scorecards as his attempt to avenge his only career loss ended with the Usyk hanging on to his WBA, WBC and WBO titles.
Both Fury and Warren blasted the decision, which leaves huge doubts over the 36-year-old’s future. Fury said Usyk from the judges while his long-term promoter was left “dumfounded”, calling it “nuts”.
Fury said: “I was confident I had won that fight again. I thought I’d won both fights, but then again I’ve gone home with two losses on my record. I will always believe until the day I die that I won that fight.
“I will always feel a little bit hard done by. Not a little bit, actually a lot. When you don’t get the knockout, this is what happens. You can’t guarantee the win.”
in various interviews after the fight, including one with the . He said: “It’s mad. Everyone who was sitting where I was sitting, and that included neutrals [thought Fury won].
“Oscar De La Hoya, like me, we were one round apart. We both thought he won it, it’s crazy scoring! A split decision and this, I’m very disappointed. I know people will say I’m biased and I probably am biased, but I temper by biasness.”
Lewis then joined the conversation, with Warren asking the heavyweight legend for his verdict. He replied: “I didn’t score it but it was close, definitely close.”

Warren then highlighted the fact one judge didn’t give Fury a single round in the second half of the fight, fuming: “What fight are they watching?”
Clearly not seeing the result in the same way, Lewis merely added: “Yeah, yeah, he should have given him a couple of rounds in there [in the second half of the fight].”
Lewis then gave his thoughts on the future of Usyk, who may decide to reunite the four heavyweight belts again. A rematch against the holder of the other belt, Daniel Dubios, has already being suggested, although that depends on his showdown against Joseph Parker on February 22.
Lewis believes the 37-year-old could hang up his gloves, saying: “He can do what he wants to do. He could retire if he wants to, he could have a rematch, he could have another fight.”
